E1 and KISS team up to create new TV series

Los Angeles, CA and Toronto, ON – March 9, 2010 – Leading independent studio, E1 Entertainment is thrilled to finalize their production and development deal with legendary rock band KISS. E1 will tap the worldwide enthusiasm for the KISS brand, collaborating with founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley to create a comedic half-hour kids television series that galvanizes the band’s iconic personas for its young fans.

GRÖNHOLM - EYEWITNESS OF LIFE

‘Eyewitness Of Life’ is the debut album from a new act from Finland - enter Grönholm led by guitarist and song writer Mika Grönholm. The music of ‘Eyewitness Of Life’ is built with an appreciation for a number of metal genres yet there is a common theme of progressive orientated riffs throughout the album, however ‘Eyewitness Of Life’ avoids the monster shredding the genre is renowned for resulting in a more focused compact album for those that like strong songs first and foremost.

Nuances of artists such as Queensrÿche and Rush can be heard here and there, but the song is of main concern for Grönholm who also adds a few shades of other cultural sounds from Indian and Spanish music along with some jazz inspired progressions to add a little spice, yet the overall feel remains firmly in the metal camp and is easily accessible. Grönholm states "Simplicity is many times beautiful and I think this approach has served me well".



Joining Mika is Status Minor vocalist Markku Kuikka and drummer Tom Rask with Grönholm handling guitar, bass and synth duties himself and this trio of musicians have created a big sounding album. Each recorded their parts at their home studios before Mika pieced the album together at his home studio. Six years spent working in one of the leading studios in Finland ensured this was an easy process for Mika to bring the whole album together and only mixing and mastering was handled outside of Grönholm’s remit.

In addition to the fine performances of the core trio of musicians the album also features guest appearances from guitarist Ty Tabor (Kings X) and keyboard whiz Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Billy Idol), Grönholm comments, "One goal was to have a few very good guests on this and it came true with Derek Sherinian and Ty Tabor . I mailed them and they liked the music samples on myspace so they agreed to play a few solos and songs. As one can guess they nailed their parts really great, and it was very nice hear their tracks".

With "Eyewitness Of Life" Grönholm have delivered a very strong debut album that is home to punchy songs, great musicianship, strong production and great artwork from Hugh Syme (Rush/Megadeth etc) and is released on April 17 2010 on Lion Music.

DREYELANDS - ROOMS OF REVELATION

Dreyelands are a melodic progressive metal band from Hungary. Their debut album ‘Rooms Of Revelation’ showcases the bands versatile attitude for music being a tasty mixture of the metallic and the melodic side of progressive and power metal, combined with a touch of 80s AOR/hard rock music.

The songs are powered by heavy guitar riffs fused with ultra melodic, memorable vocal themes along with clever arrangements. Sonically the album is big, modern and natural with no triggers on the drums and live string arrangements etc. The first half of the album has the lighter songs and as the listener gets nearer to the end they are increasingly heavier and darker.

Lyrically ‘Rooms of Revelation’ depicts a journey in a schizophrenic mind. The story is about a man that is loosing all his loves and at the end, his life as well. Our protagonist has a cruel fate: every woman, he is conceiving passion for, are disappearing after the first fulfilment of their love. Haunted by the pain of loss, he begins a journey in an imaginary house, where he finds more and more clues about what happened to his subjects of love. It turns out that all his loves were killed.

Progressing with the story, we will realize that the killer is the dark side of his split personality, brought to life by the protagonist itself. Being always afraid that the first heavenly flames are dying out, this killer is his remedy for the fear of what will come after the first fulfilment of love. As the journey continues, the killer is coming more and more to the fore, to make the decision to die together in the last song.



After forming in 2003 Dreyelands recorded their first release, a promotional EP titled ‘Can’t Hide Away’ (released in 2007). There was also a music video made for the title song of the EP. This video was featured several times on the Headbanger’s Ball program of MTV Hungary with the EP receiving great feedback from not only Hungarian but also international press.

During 2007 the band finished the song writing for the debut album ‘Rooms of Revelation’ which was recorded in several studios in Hungary and Serbia in 2008 and mixed/mastered by well known Hungarian producer / engineer Barnabás Hidasi at HL-Studio in 2009. After the recordings keyboardist Zoltán Kas left the band. For future promotion work and live gigs the band is completed by György Nagy (Age of Nemesis) as a session member.

After hearing the band Lion Music was blown away with the quality of material on offer and a deal was finalised in September 2009.

Dreyelands serve up a fresh yet classic sound in the melodic progressive metal genre and ‘Rooms Of Revelation’ opens its doors to the public on April 17 2010.

HELL MILITIA was conceived around 1999, with the sole intention of delivering dedicated black metal. Being far removed from any other consideration, Persecutor (known by the nickname Torturer with the band ARKHON INFAUSTUS) gathered Hellsukkubus (AKA LSK from bands such as ANTAEUS and SECRETS OF THE MOON) to play bass and Dave Terror (drums). These were later joined by Arkdaemon from TEMPLE OF BAAL and Meynach from MÜTIILATION. The line-up has remained constant ever since and HELL MILITIA has evolved into a genuine band.
The first recordings all sold out quickly, including the "Canonisation of the Foul Spirit" CD/LP. Then HELL MILITIA went on the road with ARCHGOAT and also performed many headlining gigs all over Europe and Russia. HELL MILITIA is a band that reaches its zenith in a live setting, incorporating the use of on-stage visuals courtesy of a live VJ to amplify the emotions and attack the senses from multiple perspectives.

HELL MILITIA now presents a new album: "last station on the road to death" CD/LP on Debemur Morti Productions, with a Russian license coming soon. More subtle, darker and still necro, this album will be performed to the masses during the headlining "on the road to death tour 2010"ARKHON INFAUSTUS), the album is released with several different covers. Recorded at BST Studio, "last station on the road to death" across Europe, Greece and Russia (with Metalkommand tour agency). Pressed with complex artwork from Omegrapix (who previously produced artworks such as the limited A5 Digibook of comprises seven original songs and a cover of GG Allin.

Frontiers Records to release the new EXTREME Live DVD and CD

Napoli (March 8, 2010) – EXTREME is releasing their ‘Take Us Alive’ live CD and DVD on Frontiers Records world-wide April 23rd in Europe & May 4th In USA. In 2008, following a 13 year hiatus, the band returned to the stage for their ‘Take Us Alive’ world tour, which encompassed 75 cities and multiple continents in support of their new and groundbreaking record, Saudades de Rock.

This recording captures EXTREME at the peak of their game with a renewed enthusiasm led by Gary Cherone’s spellbinding stage performance and powerful vocals, Nuno Bettencourt’s ferocious guitar, Pat Badger’s flawless bass and Kevin Figueiredo’s pounding drums not to mention the Extreme trademark, spot on, back up vocals.

This brilliant performance was recorded on the last night of their tour at the House of Blues August 8, 2009 in EXTREME’s hometown of Boston, MA . “We wanted to do something really special for our hometown fans that were there for us since the beginning… the club days,” states Nuno. “It was the last night of the tour and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by bringing it back to where it all started… Boston.”

The concert showcases material from all 5 EXTREME albums and exhibits the bands broad stylistic abilities. Features include a blistering rendition of the Zeppelin-minded “Comfortably Dumb,” the scorching “Play With Me,” the funked-up “Cupid’s Dead” as well as the anthemic “Get The Funk Out.” Songs like their #1 hit “More Than Words” and the top 5 “Hole Hearted,” highlight the crowds enthusiasm and loyal support their fan base has had for this beloved foursome. “As much as we enjoy recording, for me, I’ve always loved playing live for the fans,” Cherone says. “We couldn’t wait to get out there and play for our fans.”

The DVD will contain 4 unreleased bonus videos from their latest record Saudades de Rock. Candlelight Records sign Black Metallers HORNED ALMIGHTY

With three acclaimed albums and a live album etc. behind them, Danish Black Metallers HORNED ALMIGHTY is preparing to enter the studio to record, what will become their fourth album, tentatively entitled “NECRO SPIRITUALS”. An album comprised of the strongest and most fierce material written in the bands 8 year existence. Yet again, crushing all doctrines and rules with their “Don’t give a shit” take on black metal, as a testament to all that is extreme.

Originally formed in early 2002 by S. and Hellpig, both active in the extreme metal underground since the early nineties, the filthy ugly beast that is Horned Almighty was puked from the gutters of Hell initially as a duo. First intended as a side project, Horned Almighty quickly became first priority and shortly after the first primitive demo had been recorded, the drum-throne was seized by Harm. Rehearsing began for yet another demo, which in late 2003 ended up in the recording of four hellish songs in the bands own recording studio, ”Vomit”, a true shithole.

Before releasing the demo, some labels were approached with the material and Infernus Rex from the Netherlands released the material as a 7” ep, called “In the year of our horned lord” april 2004. At the same time, the bastard cult of Horned Almighty had their first live performance, featuring a session bass player, and sharing the stage with prominent names such as Dismember and Carpathian Forest.

In the summer of 2004 four filthy new songs were puked onto tape and released as the split Lp ”To The Lord Our Lives” by Hearse Recs. Moribund Records from the US did the cd version shortly there after.

At the same time rehearsing began for what was to become the first full length album and the ”Black Metal Jesus” album was recorded in the autumn 2004, once again in ”Vomit”. Infernus Rex released the album in November 2004 and the underground seemed to embrace Horned Almighty’s, at the time, quite different take on the Black Metal phenomenon. A video for the song Satanic fatherland were plotted and the recording took place at a local gig, which also featured new member Aries from french act Black Dementia on strings.

After a minitour with Danish Death Metal veterans Exmortem, a new video for the song ”Terror Soul” was shot and chopped by fellow fanatics.

Late 2005, rehearsals for a new album began and it was recorded, once again, in Vomit February 2006. In April 2006 the second album”The Devils Music - Songs of Death and Damnation” was released, again by Infernus Rex, receiving overwhelming reviews from the underground and metal media, both because of the well crafted songs, energetic production and the highly provocative and blasphemous cover artwork. The album sold quite well and got Horned Almighty playing several festivals in germany, sharing the stage with the likes of DHG, Lord Belial, Azaghal and many more…

The bands performance on the United Metal Maniacs festival in Germany in 2007 was incidentally recorded and the true ferocity of the concert resulted in the ”Live Exsanguination” 10” live lp.

The third and latest album”Contaminating the Divine” took quite a bit longer to write than the previous albums. A lot more energy and time were put into crafting this ugly abomination and the effort paid off. Nine brutal and diverse hymns were recorded for the album and for the first time, the band recorded outside their shithole ”Vomit” and spent time in several studios tracking the album. Outside help was acquired for the mixing and mastering, which was handled by Jacob Bredahl (ex-Hatesphere) in his Smart’n’hard studio and the result was astonishing. Mixing the primitivism of Celtic Frost with the aggression of Discharge and the ugliness of Autopsy, all drenched in the eerie and disturbing rot of early nineties Black Metal. As one fan noted: ”This sounds like a fucking Missouri-class canon shot at the Vatican!”.

”Contaminating the Divine” was released in February 2009 as a joint effort by the two German labels Obscure Abhorrence and Art of Propaganda and received even more praise than its predecessor and got top reviews all around.

A 10-track affair produced by Janne Joutsenniemi (Ensiferum, Suburban Tribe and Stone) and mixed by Mikko Karmila (Children Of Bodom, Nightwish), ‘Lustdriven’ sees the Finnish five-piece – from the town of Espoo, near Helsinki – further creating a signature style that draws from a broad range of influences; these include both power metal & prog, with death, symphonic & folk metal also playing a part, the whole thing topped off with a healthy sprinkling of myth & legend, plus the soul-stirring vocals of high-energy frontman Ilja Jalkanen.

As well as lead track ‘The Quickening’, the album features songs such as ‘Cry Little Angel’, ‘Of Love, Lust And Human Nature’ & ‘Lights Are Many’ – ambitious compositions displaying the development that has taken place in the band’s 10-year history.

“On this new album, we’ve kept the most aggressive elements of KIUAS,” says guitarist Mikko Salovaara, “everything is very raw and in your face. At the same time, however, we’ve pushed the epic, orchestral side to new heights, and although you’ll find some of our fastest and heaviest songs here, we’ve tried to maintain a real sense of melody throughout.”

At the moment, UK shows are being lined up for later in the year, and of course KIUAS are no strangers to these shores, having played here with both Children Of Bodom & Firewind; they also appeared at the Hard Rock Hell festival in Prestatyn, Wales, back in 2009.

WORMROT SIGNS TO EARACHE RECORDS, ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN TOUR

Earache Records is proud to announce the signing of Singapore grindcore band WORMROT.

WORMROT is a three-piece band formed in 2007 by schoolfriends Arif (vocals) and Rasyid (guitars). Completed by drummer Fitri, WORMROT take their love of all things heavy and combine it into utterly pulverising, classic-sounding grindcore.

Drawing on influences from such grindcore legends as INSECT WARFARE, WORMROT recorded a number of EPs and splits, before recording their debut full-length album, ABUSE. Originally released by Scrotum Jus Records in May 2009, Earache Records is due to re-issue ABUSE with a 34 track bonus disc of demos and unreleased material, in all of its punishing glory on April 12th, 2010, before WORMROT kick off a European tour.

Legendary British thrashers ONSLAUGHT have confirmed that their first ever UK festival appearance will take place at the 10th anniversary BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR. After forming in 1983, ONSLAUGHT burst onto the burgeoning Thrash Metal scene, releasing 3 albums before disbanding in 1990 - but not before securing their place as one of the forefathers of British Thrash. Reforming in 2005 after seeing a huge resurgence of interest on the reissuing of their back catalogue, the band returned with a new album in 2007, rapturously received across the metal world.

Now, as they prepare for album number five, the band will take time out for their only UK show of the year. States founding member and drummer Steve Grice:

OVERMASTER Album To See Release Via Cruz Del Sur Music

The debut release from OVERMASTER entitled Madness of War will be released worldwide on April 23rd by Cruz Del Sur Music. OVERMASTER features the wailing power of Gustavo “Gus” Gabarró formerly of White Skull on vocals, along with several other professional and skilled Italian musicians hailing from Skylark, Highlord, Edge of Forever and other talented Italian acts.

GOREAPHOBIA BIO

At the height of the late 1980s the thrash and death metal underground was headed toward a new and exciting change, when a Philadelphia based extreme, darkened, death metal entity named Goreaphobia was born. Alex Bouks (guitars) and Chris Gamble (bass/vocals) founded the band in the summer of 1988. Alex and Chris had the same interest in extreme underground metal music. The style, sound, and lyrical concepts were influenced by some of the most inspiring, and pioneering bands of our time, bands like Repulsion, Necrovore, Pentagram (Chile), Necrophagia, Possessed, Carnivore, Voivod, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, and Autopsy; to name just a few.

In the summer of 1990, Goreaphobia released into the global metal underground scene their first demo. The band has had great worldwide success and support from fanzines, radio shows, record labels, and the strong underground fan attendance at their shows. Goreaphobia has shared the stage with countless well known and respected metal acts such as Morbid Angel, Nocturnus, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Carcass, Repulsion, Autopsy, Death, Entombed, and Unleashed. With only one demo, and a 7” EP released by Relapse Records in 1991 named Omen of Masochism, Goreaphobia embarked on a large North American tour as the support act for New York death metal masters Immolation in the summer of 1992. Approximately one year later, the band decided to part ways, deciding to continue on to new ventures and other side projects.

Through these times the strength and charisma of Goreaphobia still remained as strong as ever! Now in 2008 the renewed and compelling power of Goreaphobia has re-ignited both Alex and Chris to reconnect and continue the passion for the musical entity Goreaphobia. Now with a shining new soul of darkness and ravenous musical inspiration, Goreaphobia has become stronger and more seriously focused than ever before.

With the help of long time friends John McEntee and Jim Roe (Incantation) they focused on writing new material. In 2008 the band played many live shows to prove to the metal world that the band is back and better than ever. Goreaphobia entered Neanderthal Studios to record their long overdue and highly anticipated debut record, Mortal Repulsion. Produced by the band, Goreaphobia has created a record full of darkness, atmosphere and full-on aggression released last year through Ibex Moon Records.

HOD ISSUES TOUR UPDATE

As expected, the mini-tour featuring Ibex Moon Records' HOD and GRAVEHILL was a whirlwind of brutality that left the state of Texas in shambles. Over the course of three shows the Ibex Moon labelmates set a new standard for live intensity as each band delivered some of the best extreme metal in the underground today. HOD guitarist Carl "Lord Necron" Snyder issued this summary of the slaughter:
"The Texas onslaught with GRAVEHILL has been merciless. P.A. Systems crashing to ground. Women beating women. Men beating men. Holy hell it's been brutal! GRAVEHILL's death metal assault has to be wtinessed live to understand the brutality. HOD has unleashed some new songs on this tour including "Under Tyranny's Hammer" and "Walking Wounded." The crowd resonse has been killer for the new material. We hope to see all you maniacs out on the road soon."

On May 1st 2010 (Saturday) Legion of the damned is giving an exclusive show during their DVD RELEASE PARTY in Beringe, Holland. SONATA ARCTICA FRONTMAN ON SET LIST FOR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

In an interview conducted today with MetalAssault.com, SONATA ARCTICA frontman Tony Kakko checked in from Finland and discussed the set list for the band’s upcoming 24-show North American tour, which launches on April 2nd in Philadelphia. Support will come from Mutiny Within and Powerglove.

Andrew: You played a few songs off of the new album on [the DragonForce] tour. How different will the set list be this time around?

Tony: We have added more songs from the latest album. We're going to play songs like ‘Deathaura.’ We are going to rehearse that one really soon. We are leaving some of the older material out and may be rehearsing something that we haven't played in a long time. We will leave some of the surprises for the people to find out. We have to shake it up a little bit. We've been playing the same old songs for a long time and its time to get a shock. It might be safe to play only the songs people want to hear but it’s getting boring for some of the older fans.

Woe Of Tyrants' new album, Threnody, will be in the hands of fans by April 14th. Formed in the early 90’s in Long Island, NY, MISERY are known for their powerfully aggressive sound and their relentless non-stop touring across the east coast. Their full length debut album “Fifteen Years of Aggression” was released in 2008 and has received rave reviews from many publications in the metal community. The album was produced by legendary Life Of Agony guitarist Joey Z. Joey took such a liking to the band that he asked MISERY to support Life of Agony on their East Coast run in December of 2008 and January of 2009. MISERY has played endless shows up and down the East Coast of North America and have supported bands such as Napalm Death, Buckcherry and Testament. Playing with such an eclectic mix of bands has given MISERY the chance to perform in front of all sorts of different crowds exposing them to fans that may not have seen them otherwise.

DIABOLIC signs Music Publishing Deal with Salem Rose Music

Salem Rose Music Publishing has announced its publishing cooperation with DIABOLIC. The Tampa, Florida-based outfit has a long and credible standing within the death metal underground with their origins dating back to 1996 when drummer Aantar Coates formed the band. Since then, the group has released five albums under the DIABOLIC name with their latest, Excisions of Exorcisms, to be released April 20, 2010.

"DIABOLIC is pleased to announce that we have forged a new alliance with Salem Rose Music!" exclaims guitarist Kelly McLauchlin. "From Marco's experience working at the top metal record labels, Metal Blade and Century Media, all the way back to his early days in the underground with Ill Literature and No Glam Fags magazines, shows his history and dedication through the years to the metal scene. We feel fortunate to be working with someone of his caliber who can take DIABOLIC to the next level."

DIABOLIC have had their ups and downs in their decade-plus existence, most recently reforming in 2006 after three years divided where some members formed the band UNHOLY GHOST, but the band is back under its original moniker and possibly stronger than ever with their first proper full-length. All Of Black Sabbath Discuss ‘Black Sabbath’ Recording

Ozzy: “I used to go around barefoot, because I literally couldn’t afford shoes.” To celebrate 40 years of Black Sabbath’s seminal heavy metal tome, ‘Black Sabbath’ we spoke to Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler and Ozzy Osbourne for this month’s issue of Hammer.

…The session was produced by Gus Dudgeon and engineered by Rodger Bain. In all, an amazing 19 takes were done of this song.
“Gus Dudgeon tried to tell us what to do,” says Ozzy. “And, if you knew us back then you’d understand that when we got ordered to do something a certain way, then we’d deliberately fuck it up. Gus was lucky that Tony didn’t wrap his guitar round his head!”

The ploy of using an outside writer didn’t work. The band also recorded another Norman Haines song, When I Come Down (sometimes called When I Came Down), but Jim Simpson couldn’t get Sabbath signed, which doesn’t surprise Bill.
“They didn’t work, because it wasn’t us. We felt uncomfortable and it shows through on the demos. We were far happier with our own material, which was very different to these songs.”

In a final act of desperation, and inspiration, Jim Simpson elected to make a bold move. He did a deal with producer and one-time jazz critic Tony Hall, who’d co-hosted a short-lived late-1950s music TV series called Oh Boy! – almost a precursor to Top Of The Pops. It was agreed that Hall would put up the money for Sabbath to do an album, and then try to sell the results to a record company.

“I think Tony Hall gave us £1,000,” says Geezer. “We each got £100 to pay off debts, and the rest went to pay for the album – £600. It sounds like nothing these days!”

“I thought I was rich,” adds Ozzy. “I spent some of the money on a pair of shoes. I used to go around barefoot at the time, because I literally couldn’t afford shoes.”


In November 10, 1969, the band went back to Trident to have another go at recording a commercial cover. The song chosen this time was Evil Woman (Don’t You Play Your Games With Me).

“This had been a hit in America for a band called Crow [it reached number 19],” says Bill Ward of the choice. “To be brutal, none of us liked the song and we didn’t wanna do it. But what did we know? Jim Simpson and Tony Hall felt it could do us some good, so we reluctantly went along with it.”

DREAM THEATER TO SUPPORT IRON MAIDEN ON SUMMER TOUR

New York, NY: Prog rock/metal icons DREAM THEATER will spend their summer supporting Iron Maiden on the band’s month-long tour of major US and Canadian markets. The tour launches on June 9 and runs through July 20, and includes a stop at the storied Madison Square Garden in NYC, marking the first time in a lengthy and respected career that Dream Theater will have played the world’s most famous arena. This tour will mark another milestone in Dream Theater’s history, which continues to expand and evolve, twenty-five years deep.



Of touring with Iron Maiden in North America, drummer Mike Portnoy said, “It is a bit of a dream come true for us. After 25 years together, at this stage in our career, there's honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for and Maiden is one of them. It is an absolute honor. Playing MSG for the first time is also a huge accomplishment for the band and they are thrilled about the prospect. “Dream Theater has achieved so many dreams through the years, from playing the Budokan in Tokyo to Wembley Arena in London to Radio City Music Hall in NYC,” Portnoy recalled. “But the one remaining dream that has eluded us through all of these years was to play at Madison Square Garden. Well, on July 12, along with Iron Maiden, that dream will finally be fulfilled.”



Guitarist John Petrucci was equally stoked about the MSG play, saying, “I am unbelievably excited to be finally playing Madison Square Garden, and with the almighty Maiden to boot! They have been heroes to the band since the beginning and are iconic in our eyes. There is nothing like achieving success and recognition in your own country, in your own city. It's going to be an incredible night for sure.”



Portnoy has proof of this career-long dream, saying, “About a month ago, my family and I were watching a video of my first band Intruder from back in 1983, and in the video before the show, I was interviewed and asked what my dream goal was. I responded ‘To play the Garden.’ It took almost 30 years, but it’s surreal that I will now be able to check it off the list.”



Dream Theater’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings was released in 2009 and debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Sales chart.

THE ROT IS SPREADING!!!







Cardiac Arrest began its existence in the spring of 1997, with original members Jim Nichols (bass, later drums) and Adam Scott (guitars/vocals). By 2001, Cardiac Arrest became more stable and active. After enduring various lineup changes and exploring side projects, Cardiac Arrest refocused in 2004 to record the MCD Demo Heart Stopping Death Rot, released in August of that same year. Many shows followed throughout the Midwest with the lineup of Adam Scott, M. Raiman, and Ed Baugh.



Shortly after recording the now-classic Beast Among Many 7” for Famine Records, Adam sought new members to round out the CA machine. Over the better part of 2005, CA was joined by Jim “.50 Cal” Deabenderfer and David “Amsterdamn” Holland, on drums and bass, respectively. It was this lineup that would help to solidify Cardiac Arrest as a death metal monster in the Midwest and the surrounding area. Before long, the three piece had written and recorded CA’s full length debut, Morgue Mutilations, for Redrum Records, released in October of 2006.



During the recording process for Morgue Mutilations, Tom “Terror” Knizner was added to the fold on second guitar and vocals. This lineup has been stable since May 2006, spreading the Word Of Rot throughout the US for over three and a half years.



It would not be long before the well-oiled machine of Cardiac Arrest would begin writing again. The resulting sophomore effort, Cadaverous Presence (released on Epitomite Productions in spring 2008), was a definitive statement of what Cardiac Arrest had grown into: a grinding death metal outfit with undeniable chops. The band showed a maturity in the craft of songwriting that is often lacking in so-called modern death metal that has become their trademark to this day. It also marked the first time the band would self-produce at Kai Kauffman’s Polymorph Media Studio.



Cardiac Arrest has shared the stage with many metal titans over the years, to include, but not limited to: Napalm Death, Destruction, Extreme Noise Terror, Incantation, Funerus, Acheron, Impetigo, Mortician, Estuary, Vital Remains, Anal Blast, Lividity, Goreaphobia, Massacre, Resurrection, Denial Fiend, Impaled, and many, many more; through such respected festivals as Central Illinois Metalfest, Milwaukee Metalfest, Los Angeles Murderfest, Michigan Metalfest, Mayhem in May (KY), and several stateside tours.



Haven For the Insane, Cardiac Arrest’s long-awaited third full-length album, was recorded in the winter of 2008/2009, at Polymorph once again. Mastering and artwork were completed as of November 2009, and the band eagerly awaits the day to unleash this new monster on the world at large. Cardiac Arrest signed to Ibex Moon Records in February 2010, and is eager for the opportunity to spread the word of ROT on a global scale. Appearances in support of Haven For The Insane at Central Illinois Metalfest and Michigan Deathfest 2010 are scheduled; several tours are in the works.

SUIDAKRA - THEIR UPCOMING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

SUIDAKRA will be making their triumphant return to the United States this coming Monday March 8th at B.B. KING’S in New York City. This is the first date of their North American tour with Israeli metallers Orphaned Land. The tour with Orphaned land will also be stopping in Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, and Austin, TX. The Austin, TX gig will be a part of the SXSW music festival. In conjunction with the SXSW performance ICS Festival Service GMBH will be presenting the Wacken Metal Meeting. CAVUS BEGIN RECORDING THEIR LISTENABLE DEBUT

Freshly signed to Listenable Records, CAVUS are already working in the studio recording their full-length debut album. The band has given us an update as below :

"The Cavus album recordings started on Monday 22.2 in Porvoo, Finland, with setting up the gear. We are using an old wooden house in the outskirts of Porvoo as the recording facility that has also functioned as the band's rehearsal place. It is a privately owned house that has been a part of an old production complex but got abandoned some 20 years ago because of high toxicity in the ground and surroundings due to an industrial accident. Most of the toxicity is caused by cyanide, so nothing, even rats, live there. Some of the great atmosphere is captured in our promotional pictures, which are taken at the same location.

"As recording gear for the drums, we used two 8-track recorders combined along with some other un-orthodox solutions. No klicktracks, no retakes, just one take from the beginning of the album to the end. That's it. The result is bestial and the pounding fierce, just as it should be.

"The work will now continue with bass and guitars. We are using old Russian tube-amplifiers like Sovtek and Spetl for the heads together with a variety of cabinets. The old CCCP amps really have a gritty and fucked-up sound, so they are perfect for us. When turned up high, they glow in the dark like Chernobyl and let out a horrid death rattle...

"Last but not least, we are planning to lay down the vocal vermin sometime in the end of March if everything works out according to plan. Usually it doesn't, since this is Cavus and we have tendencies to destroy ourselves in every process we take part in, like demonstrated by our drummer who fell from the roof during the first day of studio.

"The exact amount of songs and the length of the album is not yet fully clear, but it will be somewhere between 40 and 50 minutes and definetly takes every aspect of our demolishing art to the next level.

"Come serpent and whisper in our ears, for we long for your forked tongue..."

FURZE is looking for a new deal

FURZE finally entered an appropriate studio at early November’s full moon 2009 to record the 4th full length album. We don’t want to reveal the album title or studio chosen or the already finished front cover artwork before we know a certain release date.. Musically speaking the 6 tracks for this full length have a real groove, feeling; and as usual influenced by the elementary 6 first Black Sabbath albums.

* The overall atmosphere and lyrics however is doomed to draw the listener towards New challenge in the ever Furzing Triad...

The Master tapes are not currently in our hands. This press release is meant by means of attracting attention/spread the news to labels that a new Furze album is on the steps. We seek to start negotiations as soon as possible. After 10+ years and many EP and album releases we think it unnecessary to spread promo-material prior to a new album which anyhow risks being spread on the internet before the release is out – which would be horrible!


“It Leads…”

It was all clear to us that this album definitely needed a suiting production. We don’t want our original songs/intent/lyrix to suffer from an unoriginal production! We were earlier on too high on the intent/the songs themselves to understand what importance also the production really holds for the total outcome!

It is safe to say that the level of DIY attitude since way before FURZE actually managed to do the first demo in the 90s, has made it a hard road.
The only road…our Path - outside scene schemes with tours, producers, ‘correct studios’ etc….that’s establishment in our eyes.

Original power comes forth thru this extremely distanced behavior, where one distill noble drops without ‘adapting news’ from any scene; just following the Furzin’ inspiration and hopefully create our own news to the world….We believe we have those (news to tell) even though Furze will always be what could be labeled “originally old school” -
We’re concentrating ON the Triad which in our personal case (= “No 1”) means: keep the Triad evolving…
Death(“3”) doesn’t evolve.
Life(“1”) must take heed, evolve, because of Death.
The divine (“2”) evolves – must take heed, because of Death(“anti-religion par excellence”)

Even outside “our Milky Way”, anywhere in space and time,
anywhere there is anything “moving”, any plane where there is “movement” –
There is the Lord present far above their reach –
- one day He (“no 3”) shall ride in Solitude as the King he’s always been..
It leads All –
- it is “THAT WHICH NEVER STARTED NOR EVER ENDS!” (a sweet torment indeed huh?)

He waits forever – like no one else…

Thus, naming the name of the Blade on The Reaper’s scythe;
- forged as our actual band name - makes sense, on the behalf of it’s Power position in the hierarchy of The Triad…

Many does not UNDERSTAND what Furze/The Triad is about – so they think its about nothing, or just an ironic tongue-in-cheek! Nothing could be further from the truth. As one should understand, at least, is that we write about a sort of “nihilist-occultism (in lack of a better word) of truth” which somehow leads to all possible results in this world….
Although, let it remain their truth…we’re not writing for the stereotypes of metal anyway...


“A-A-A... Black Furzing Metal”

FURZE are conventional enough to hail the revolt Venom did “against” the 70s in the early 80s…However, our task in today’s digi-triggi-midi production metal world is to revolt by revitalize, and thus pay tribute to the revolt of the seeds of black metal: Black Sabbath ! There is no other creation in heavy music (except the then unavailable divine BEDEMON recordings !!) existing in the 70s which spawned sinister dark riffs as thoroughly…Occult/dark lyrics existed in rock, yes, but it stopped there… We know a lot of music obscure and known from this decade and still this is our opinion! What Hell of an innovation to make and realize a song like “Black Sabbath” in 1969!!! We think its bloody important to put focus on the organic feel and production ways in metal and just hope that more future musicians will pick this up from the 70s again, and do something personal out of it. After all, its not about mathematics, well, at that time its about having had a good listen to The Reaper, hah !
FURZE/Woe J Reaper covered “Electric Funeral” in March 1998(unreleased 2nd demo) by the way ! Adding a funny story; Sabbath’s alpha-igniting debut LP was released on Friday the 13th of February 1970 whilst Furze’s “Fresh Tea” song (released on Furze’s debut EP in 2000) was fully recorded on Friday the 13th of February 1998 (for the unreleased 2nd demo)! And now, February 2010; its 40th anniversary for the almighty Sabbath!

- These days bands often do 4-5 different versions of their albums…we’ll do 2 versions: LP and CD. But then again, you will get two different album versions: first off, the LP will be a fucking

A-A-A production! This is a dream come true! Analogue recording, Analogue mixing AND(!) Analogue Mastering; which was helluva ride to get a hold of nowadays(totally analogue mastering is only possible to do directly unto an acetate/mother vinyl or unto tape)!! The CD is then of course an A-A-D production, the last step, the Mastering, is doomed to be digitalized.. So the sound on each format will differ, definitely !! The finished frontcover is also something we’re totally enthusiastic about, it fits the music like mauve fits ravens.

This album is dedicated to the memory of the ‘70-‘75 era of Black Sabbath.

METALLICA – Rare 1982 “Sucking My Love” Demo

TMD has unearthed another one of the earliest METALLICA demo tracks ever. It is a recording of DIAMOND HEAD’s “Sucking My Love”, featuring Dave Mustaine on guitar, Ron McGovney on bass, Lars Ulrich on drums and James Hetfield on vocals.

Official METALLICA historian Bob Nalbandian states it for the record:

“For METALLICA fans, this was definitely the rarest, and earliest, material to ever surface. No one knew this recording even existed, since original bassist Ron McGovney had the only copy of this garage practice session (this tape was too crude even be labeled a demo!). The tape features the Diamond Head covers “Sucking My Love,” “Helpless” and “Am I Evil” (the latter two which Metallica later re-recorded and released commercially), and their very first original tune, “Hit the Lights.” Recorded in Ron’s garage in March of ‘82 (two months after the band was formed) by suspending a $49.00 ghetto blaster in the air, and with James singing through the guitar amp..."

The Phoenix-based death/grind quintet LANDMINE MARATHON, whose late 2008 release Rusted Eyes Awake continues to earn critical acclaim, whose three-release Level Plane Records discography has drawn frequent comparisons to Napalm Death, Carcass and Bolt Thrower, will be releasing SOVEREIGN DESCENT on March 16, 2010.

“We’re extremely excited about signing with Prosthetic and can’t wait to forge new friendships and relationships with them,” says guitarist Ryan Butler. “They’ve been nothing but a blast to work with through the signing process, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this partnership.”

LANDMINE MARATHON was founded in 2004 by bassist Matt Martinez, drummer Mike Pohlmeier and vocalist Grace Perry, the latter of whom periodically blogs for the website of Revolver magazine. Butler joined in 2006, soon after the release of the band’s debut album Wounded. The following year, the group released a praised split CD/LP with Scarecrow; in its review, All Music Guide wrote that “LANDMINE MARATHON’s three tracks have more good ideas than most bands’ albums.”

In 2008, the group welcomed guitarist Dylan Thomas and returned to the studio to record Rusted Eyes Awake.Revolver called the album “a gnarling and gnashing blood-caked throwback to 1990, when Napalm Death couldn’t decide if they were going to be grindcore or death metal,” while Lambgoat praises the band’s “pure urgency and grit,” calling the release a blend of “the ferociously thick riffs of Bolt Thrower’s death metal (and) Napalm Death’s blistering grind mentality.”

MUNICIPAL WASTE'S DAVE WITTE TALKS ABOUT METALLICA

Dave Witte, drummer of Virginian crossover thrash kings MUNICIPAL WASTE has
written his thoughts about METALLICA for SLAM Magazine Austria:

"My friend Thomas asked me to write this for SLAM Magazine/Austria. I
thought it was cool enough to share, so here goes!

"Here's my story. Before I was serious about music, I was big into BMX,
flatground, ramp, etc. One day when I was headed out on my good ole' Hutch,
I saw a Maxell cassette laying in the street with four dollar bills wrapped
around it, by a red rubber band. I was like "cool, money", I can go get some
new grips or something. I took the money off and read the labels on the
tape. Side A: Metallica, Kill 'Em All and Side B: Mercyful Fate, Don't Break
The Oath. I had never heard of these bands before and I decided to keep the
tape.

"Later that day, I popped it into my player and I was blown away and in love
with Metallica. Mercyful Fate for me then was kinda scary/evil. I liked it,
but my Mom didn't and told me to turn it off. (So I played that one when she
wasn't home).

"After that day, Metallica was my favorite band and in the next few years to
come, my room was filled with photos and posters of them and I had bought
Ride The Lightning, Creeping Death and Master of Puppets.
My first Metallica concert was in 86 for the Master of Puppets tour with
Ozzy Osbourne. I was lucky enough to see Cliff Burton in all his raging
glory.

"As music changed, got more extreme, adventurous, more laid back and for the
good or bad. I will always remember Metallica for what they did for me and
metal music in general as their classic records are simply unbeatable."

Thy sinister werewolf kult of Horna was born in 1993 by Shatraug and Moredhel. The hammer of uncreation, Gorthaur, joined in 1994 and the first release "Varjoissa" was created in 1995. Joined by Nazgul in 1996, Horna set out the course lead by "Hiidentorni" all the way upon the grim splendour of "Sudentaival". In 2001 Nazgul was replaced by Corvus unveiling an entirely new era in our existence. In the summer of 2003 we found our lead guitarist Saturnus and the unholy trinity of Shatraug-Corvus-Saturnus was born, a revelation that clouded any previous settlements. During the hardships and struggle of 2006 Saturnus decided to leave the band, but not before completing his part on the new coming full lenght album of 2008. After the 2007 European Tour it was decided to get another guitarist in the line-up again and this time the right man was closer than we could've imagined - our long-time bassist Infection. So he got promoted and a new bassist was recruited.

HORNA has never been and never to be a political band nor do any of the band lyrics have such content. We are satanist, heathen, BLACK METAL. In an announcement given to a "bunch of penguins", from the bowels of their Antarctic fortress, the world's sickest band, the mighty GWAR, has announced the continuation of their 25th Anniversary with a public event of colossal proportion - The Crack-a-Thon!

"We are trying to raise money for the kids…not just muscular dystrophy, but retards as well, all kinds of fucked-up freaks," said Oderus.

The event will kickoff on April 10th, 2010 at the notorious MF Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. The weeklong debauchery will be broadcast live on the World Wide Web, and anybody with internet access will be able to view the gala event free of charge. Viewers will be able to pledge funds via a website, (to be announced later - check http://www.MFgallery.net for details.) as powerful computers illegally drain your bank account. Rumors that any money raised will actually be used to pay off Oderus' crack debt were immediately confirmed.

Said Sleazy P. Martini, as he was reached for comment at his Jersey City headquarters, "Oderus is completely wasted and really has no concept of money, instead he prizes things like little pieces of rope or dead dogs and dead dogs don't pay the bills!"

"The boys and me wanna give something back to the community, you know, something besides AIDS…"

After the kickoff party on April 10th, there will be a week of intense preparation, as the MF Gallery is transformed into Slave Pit TV central, and Oderus is set loose on the streets of NYC! His atrocities will be carefully documented and broadcast during the Crack-a-Thon, which will commence on Friday April 16th, 2010. Live web cams will broadcast all the action from the gallery as slaves desperately prepare for the most stupendous entertainment event since Bud Dywers very public suicide!

The Crack-a-Thon will begin on Friday April 16th and will go as long as it takes to pay off Oderus' bill, or he gets bored and leaves, whatever comes first. The public is invited to be our studio audience, and should contact MF Gallery for information on how to reserve a seat in the Crack-a-Thon audience.

Oderus will be joined by band mate Balsac, the Jaws of Death, who will serve as band leader and comic foil.

"I really don't know why I demean myself by associating with him," said the metal-faced horror, "but it will be fun watching him fail."

The rumored list of guests scheduled to appear include Tiger Woods, God, and Carmen Electra's torso, though this was subject to change. Confirmed is the shadowy underground performance troupe, the F-Minus Art Players, led by the sewer-dwelling playwright and art-fag Anton Reemcobb, who are slated to perform some of their shockingly neo-dada-esque bullshit theatre. Also confirmed are cybernetic musical guests DETHRACE, among others.

Nightwish - Singer Expecting A Child

According to a Finnish newspaper, Nightwish singer Anette Olzon is expecting her second child. The child is due to born in the beginning of Autumn. Nightwish is on hold and working on new material for the next studio release. Olzon will record her vocals in the beginning of 2011.
